Mashup of the Day: Epic mashup of Eric Cartman performing “Poker Face” on South Park, Christopher Walken reading “Poker Face” on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, and the “Poker Face” music video is epic.

Is your cat making too much noise all the time? Is your cat constantly stomping around, driving you crazy?!

My friend Sarah (why is it that every new friend I make here named Sarah? Goodness) and I were talking at the café earlier and we decided we’re going to try and go to Norway together! Ah! I’ve been wanting to travel to other countries since coming here, but no one can ever come with me and I’m not particularly keen on travelling alone. We are considering going next week as we have a 6 day break between class, but that might be too soon to get things settled or if we want to track anyone else down to join us. Apparently, the train ride is incredibly beautiful. It is a bit more expensive in Norway, but I’m willing to spend more to go somewhere new. I wonder if I’ll be able to understand anyone? I could understand my Norwegian teacher last year and my classmates who spoke Norwegian but I’m still skeptical.

If we end up not going to Norway next week, we’re going to settle for clubbing at my nation because I’ve been wanting to for awhile. It’s just tough with the club night being on Wednesday because I always seem to have class the next day, but next week might be our chance!

You’re very likely to be going to the south-east of Norway, y/y? Because then you’ll understand everybody just fine, I’ll bet money on that. Just stay clear of the south and especially the west. Even I can’t understand those motherfuckers over there.

Yeah…I’m not sure where’d we go. Probably south-east/Oslo though since it’s closest to the border haha. Are you talking about nynorsk? (Okay, I know nynorsk is just a written language rather than spoken, but she had that accent…y’know.) Geez. There was a girl in my class last year who was from the West of Norway and it was terrible trying to understand her. What is this “eg ikje” or whatever business?! (I know I can’t spell.) I made do though.

In Oslo you’ll definitely have no problem understanding the language. And yeah, the western Norwegian accent is pretty much as close as you’ll get to spoken nynorsk. The southern accent isn’t too far off either, but I’m guessing it’s a tiny bit easier to understand than the western.
